Korean 5G Contents Draw Vast Attention Globally at MWC 2019


- Korean Smart Contents Pavilion, procures 59 Million USD after export consultations -

- NIPA provides foothold for Korean contents to occupy the global 5G market -

SEOUL, South Korea, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019, the world's largest exhibition for mobile information communication, was held in Barcelona, Spain, where Korean smart contents received the attention from buyers all over the world, proving its potential to be the next 5G killer contents.

The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister: Young-min You) and the National IT industry Promotion Agency (NIPA, President: Chang-yeong Kim), stated that from operating the Korean Smart Contents Pavilion, they obtained an encouraging result of 59 million USD from export deal consultations, 1 contract conclusion and 1 MoU deal.

The Korean Smart Contents Pavilion was planned in order to provide an opportunityfor Korean smart contents to venture into the world market by providing experience booths where visitors could experience a collection of different 5G based contents including VR/AR, AI and IoT services.



NIPA ran business matching, investor pitches and network reception events among others with 10 Korean businesses for potential local buyers and partners.

* 10 Participating Businesses: Salin, Stratio Inc Korea, IS Communications Co., Ltd., Apposter Inc., Spacosa Corp, Opus One Inc, Mflare Co., Ltd., Junggam Co.,Ltd., MINDs Lab, Mobile Doctor


Business France, a French Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Spanish Catalonian Government Trade Investment Agency and China's National Postal and Telecommunications Appliances Co., Ltd. (PTAC), together with other international key agencies helped with promoting business matchings during the event participation period.

- Salin, providers of the VR social media platform 'EpicLive" formed an MoU with ObEN from the US while promising partnerships in VR and AR technologies.

- Junggam, the developer of Onia, an IoT-based smart mood lighting product, concluded a copyright partnership with Bramer & Partner UG, a German distributor, and also has plans to distribute 500 million KRW worth of products.

President Kim stated, "We focused on introducing key 5G contents, including VR/AR, artificial intelligence and IoT technology, developed by Korean businesses. We will strive and provide various support to aid Korean smart contents businesses to occupy the global 5G market through production support, advertising and marketing and service platforms."
