Global and China Online Tourism Industry Report, 2012-2015

Nov 27, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/g4pm8j/global_and_china) has announced the addition of the "Global and China Online Tourism Industry Report, 2012-2015" report to their offering.

In accordance with Global and China Online Tourism Industry Report, 2012-2015 released by Sino Market Insight, the market size of China's online tourism industry is predicted to hit RMB 317.9 billion in 2015.

Chinese online tourism market size reached RMB 131.37 billion in 2011, and the figure is expected to be up to RMB 317.9 billion in 2015 with a CAGR of 24.72%, higher than the world's 10.64%.

As for the market segments of the online tourism industry in China, the revenue from flight tickets, hotels and vacation trips contributed 61.2%, 25.6% and 10.7% respectively to the total revenue of the industry in 2011. In the four years to come, the share of revenue from flight tickets will suffer a slight decline, while the revenue from hotels and vacation trips will enjoy a rising proportion.

According to the ranking of the world's 14 major online tourism players by revenue in 2011, the top five were OTAs, while vertical search and media type enterprises only took 4 seats. Moreover, in terms of multiple indicators like profit and gross margin, the media and search enterprises represented by Tripadvisor and Qunar.com have not made great impact on OTAs represented by Priceline and Ctrip.

OTA will still maintain its pivotal position in the online tourism market and its profit model is becoming increasingly mature. The vertical search and media model may make breakthroughs in user visits, but its development will be affected to some extent given that it fails to render an effective profit-making mechanism.
