SAN MATEO, Calif., Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Medallia, Inc. In recent months, customer experience has emerged as a critical focal point for the government as evidenced by advancements including the introduction of supporting legislation within Congress, the creation of the White House's Office of American Innovation and the publication of the President's Management Agenda, specifically CAP Goal 4, "Improving Customer Experience."

"As we worked to modernize government, we prioritized the importance of understanding the citizen experience first," said Aneesh Chopra, former White House appointee who was the first Chief Technology Officer of the United States and current President of CareJourney. "The Medallia platform represents a better way for agencies to ingest and use customer experience data to deliver better services for our fellow Americans, especially when they need them most."

Medallia has provided VA with a Software-as-a Service Customer Engagement Management Solution to support VA's customer service mission, a government institution that touches citizen lives every day.

The Medallia Public Sector Advisory Board will take that experience and help expand it to other vital areas of government such as healthcare and education.

The public sector advisory board includes:

Aneesh Chopra, an American executive who served as the first CTO of the United States. He was appointed in 2009 by President Barack Obama and was at the White House through 2012. Chopra previously served as Virginia's Secretary of Technology under Governor Tim Kaine. He is the author of "Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government" and President of CareJourney.

<>Ann Veneman was appointed by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and served as the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) from 2005 to 2010. She previously served as the United States Secretary of Agriculture from 2001 to 2005. The only woman ever to serve in that position, she directed one  of the largest and most diverse agencies in government. She also served as the California Secretary of Food and Agriculture from 1995 to 1999 and in a number of positions in USDA earlier in her career including Deputy Secretary.  She currently sits on a number of boards and advisory boards for corporations, start-ups and non-profits.

Barry Morris is President and CEO of CapRelo where he oversees business development and growth, client relations, finance, product management and global operations for the organization. He ensures resources are aligned to deliver value to the company's core customer groups. Prior to joining CapRelo in 2017, Barry held prominent leadership roles at global telecom and technology organizations such as VP of Dell EMC's Federal Division, VP of Polycom's Public Sector Sales, and Vice President of Federal Sales for Nortel Networks.

Jim Messina is a political advisor who was the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2011 and served as the campaign manager for Obama's successful 2012 re-election campaign. His "innovative fusion of technology and politics led Google chairman Eric Schmidt to call the 2012 race 'the best-run campaign ever'." He is currently CEO of The Messina Group.

Mike Kourey is the Chair of the Medallia Public Advisory Board where he will focus on growing the company's nascent government business. With over 20 years of operating and board experience with both startups and large technology enterprises, Kourey brings extensive hands-on expertise in leading strategy and execution for high-growth companies, including five successful IPOs (Okta, RingCentral, Aruba Networks, Riverbed and Polycom); and for over the past three years, he has served as Medallia's CFO. Kourey is currently audit chair at Okta and on the board of InVision and Villanova University.  Prior to Medallia, Kourey was a partner at Khosla Ventures and also held a number of operational finance leadership roles including serving as CFO and board member of Polycom.

Scott Charbo is the VP of Information Technology for Nutrien (formerly Agirum). During his career, Charbo has reached the pinnacle of IT leadership within the ranks of the federal government, serving as the CIO of USDA from 2002 through 2005 and the CIO of Department of Homeland Security from 2005 through 2008. Before his federal service, Charbo worked in the agriculture and chemical industries as President of mPower3 Inc, a subsidiary of ConAgra Foods, work that has positioned him well now in his return to the private sector with Nutrien.

"The vast and unique experiences of our six-member advisory board perfectly equips Medallia to transform the overall citizen-to-government experience -- improving trust, transparency and service while driving savings in time and cost," said Leslie Stretch, CEO, Medallia. "Citizens have multiple touchpoints with government services every day and Medallia can significantly improve those touchpoints by making government better for all of us -- citizens, employees and agencies.
