Empire Access Upgrades Residential Internet Upload Speeds By 1000 Percent

Empire Access, a Northeast fiber-based internet service provider, today announces that beginning March 1, its residential customers will receive improved internet throughput speeds, offering a 10x speed bump for uploads.

Base upload and download speeds for residential plans will deliver a maximum of 500 Megabits per second (Mbps), with symmetrical 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) speeds also available. Until now, residential customers were offered a maximum of 500 Mbps/50 Mbps. The improvements are effective beginning March 1, for all new and existing residential customers at no additional cost.

Symmetrical speeds offer Empire Access' residential customers equal upload and download speeds, eliminate speed discrepancies, and create a larger capacity to deliver data more efficiently. Symmetrical speeds are designed to provide customers with enhanced speed and reliability, especially for heavy online users who rely on the internet for working or learning from home, gamers, and homes with multiple users. For many residential customers, especially those in rural areas, this is a unique experience not offered by other providers.

"This is a big moment for us to bring higher internet speeds to homeowners," stated Jim Baase, CEO at Empire Access. "We believe that fast and reliable internet is the backbone of our everyday lives, so we want to make sure that all ur customers have access to the best speeds available. It's a big step that not every provider makes, but implementing symmetrical speeds is a massive advancement in many of the communities we serve, especially with the bandwidth demands of modern-day internet and the rise of working from home. I'm proud of the Empire Access team for accomplishing this, and we look forward to continuing to serve our local communities."

Additionally, customers in Scranton, PA, and Binghamton, NY, can expect 2 Gbps plans to be offered in the near future as part of Empire Access' second phase transition to symmetrical speeds.

In addition to gigabit-speed internet, Empire Access provides leading phone plans, security, home automation, streaming, video monitoring, and more across its service area. All of Empire Access' services are backed by its fiber optic broadband network which stretches across large areas of NY and PA to reach a number of underserved communities. As part of its home and business internet plans, Empire Access provides free installation, dedicated fiber connection, no data caps, and unlimited usage across its service area. Behind the success lies its deep-rooted connection in its service region, with locally staffed 24/7/365 customer service, including its recently announced Scranton, PA, office.
