EMC #1 in External Disk Storage Revenue for 7th Consecutive Quarter; Analyst Firm Reports EMC #1 in NAS for 6th Straight QuarterHOPKINTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 2, 2005 -- EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, led the worldwide External Disk Storage systems market in revenue for the seventh consecutive quarter in the third fiscal quarter of 2005, according to a new report from IDC(a). EMC also was #1 in NAS (network attached storage) for the sixth straight quarter, growing revenues nearly twice as fast as its nearest competitor and extending its lead on a year-to-year basis with 40% revenue share. According to IDC, EMC and co-branded Dell/EMC external disk storage systems revenue, combined, grew by $135 million compared to the year-ago quarter and represented 26.6% of the total External Disk Storage market in the third quarter.
