CI-Net: Computer Hacking Workshop Comes To Birmingham

Feb 19, 2010 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Birmingham companies can attend a computer hacking workshop to help them better understand the threat to their businesses from malicious hackers.

Participants at the half day workshop on 11 March will be shown how easy it is to access hacking tools from the Internet, followed by hands-on experience of how these tools can be used to hack into an example web site.

Andy Conway, technical director at, hosting, wide area networking and security expert, CI-Net, which is running the series of nationwide workshops, said it was important for businesses to understand what 'the bad guys' can really do: "As well as being a fun way of getting an insight into the methods used by hackers and cyber criminals the workshops will provide useful information about technologies that can be used to protect organisations' computer networks." "Of course we will stick to revealing widely known hacking methods which no longer pose a real security risk. But this provides a good picture of the potential dangers for those who want to be able to protect themselves. After all, it's always good to get to know your enemy," adds Conway.

The workshops are targeted at business and IT staff at medium sized private and public sector organisations. The venue for the Birmingham workshop at 9.00am, 11 March 2010 is: Macdonald BurlingtonHotel, Burlington Arcade, 126 New Street, Birmingham, B2 4JQ The Price is GBP100 per person.
