Call center tries to fill 300 seats from province


(Business World (Philippines) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Davao City - A Manila-based call center will try to recruit 300 agents when it holds a job fair on June 2 at this city's New City Commercial Center.

In a statement, the Department of Trade and Industry said Alorica Philippines, Inc. will look for applicants that will supervise its in-bound and outbound service via voice, chat and electronic mails to both its local and foreign clients.

The call center is located in Pasig in Metro Manila and is contemplating expanding its operations to other areas of the country, including Davao City. "During the recruitment activity, the company will initially assess the applicants who will qualify to join the organization. Once qualified, lucky applicants will then undergo a training to prepare them for their new job," the statement said.



Among the positions available are customer interaction specialists and technical support representatives. Applicants must be college graduates of computer-related course, have above average communication skills, computer literate, knowledgeable in personal computer troubleshooting for those who will apply as technical support representatives, team players, patient, and self-motivated, willing to work in flexible hours.

Trade regional director Merly Cruz said that with the company looking for workers in the city is an indication that the city's labor force can compete with the best in the market. "Aside from giving our graduates jobs, its plan of putting up a business office in the city will be a huge factor in local economic growth," Ms. Cruz said.
