Avaya to buy SIP software developer(InfoWorld Daily Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) In a move to beef up its Internet networking expertise, communications vendor Avayahas agreed to acquire Ubiquity Software, a developer of software applications using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology. The deal, worth 74.3 million ($144 million ), will help Avaya provide support to network operators and enterprises migrating to all-IP (Internet Protocol) networks, the company said Friday. Avaya designs, builds and manages communications networks for more than 1 million companies worldwide. Ubiquity develops SIP-based communications software to service providers, ISVs (independent software vendors) and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) around the world.
