AMERICAN SYSTEMS Selects Certeon to Accelerate Collaboration and CRM Applications

BURLINGTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Certeon, the industry's only vendor to securely accelerate mission-critical applications over wide area networks (WANs), today announces AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of systems engineering, technical and managed services, has selected Certeon's S-Series to optimize the performance of its Microsoft(R) SharePoint(R)-based Intranet and CRM systems. AMERICAN SYSTEMS doubled the employee usage of these systems by using Certeon's solution to accelerate the content access response times over the WAN.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States and a leading IT solutions provider for government, commercial and educational businesses. AMERICAN SYSTEMS developed an internal Intranet collaboration system, AMERICAN SYSTEMS Information Management Systems (AIMS), for its employees using Microsoft SharePoint. AIMS provided AMERICAN SYSTEMS employees across the United States access to critical company information, however remote users were experiencing "sluggish" performance when accessing content from AIMS over the WAN. AMERICAN SYSTEMS also supports an internal CRM application for its customers called GovWin, which also suffered from "less than desired" performance over the WAN.

After evaluating a number of WAN optimization solutions, AMERICAN SYSTEMS selected Certeon's S-Series Application Acceleration Appliances and deployed them in its data center in Chantilly, VA and remote sites across the U.S. The Certeon S-Series appliances, with embedded Application Acceleration Blueprints(TM) for SharePoint and Microsoft Office(TM) SharePoint Server (MOSS), accelerated the performance of AIMS response times between Atlanta, Ga. and San Diego, Calif. from more than 220 seconds to less than five seconds when downloading large .xls files between the two sites. The S-Series significantly improved AIMS file download and page rendering performance, enabling overall employee usage of these mission-critical systems to double.

"Certeon's S-Series delivered superior performance and proved to be a very cost-effective solution for our AIMS and GovWin systems," said Wesley Ward, information security engineer, AMERICAN SYSTEMS. "The S-Series enabled AIMS and GovWin to become valuable and useful tools for our employees, and as a result, our business has benefited significantly from increased user productivity."

"Businesses with distributed offices are relying more and more on collaboration tools such as SharePoint to provide access to mission-critical information to their employees as a means to increase productivity in the national and internationally distributed organizations," states Peter Dougherty, president and CEO, Certeon. "AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of many customers who have seen dramatic results in acceleration of all their WAN traffic while also optimizing the performance of their mission critical collaboration applications using the S-Series unique Application Intelligent Networking(TM) techniques."
