AMCC Demonstrates High Performance 3ware RAID Technology at LinuxWorld Conference


SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- This week at the LinuxWorld(R) Conference and Expo, Applied Micro Circuits Corporation's 3ware(R) storage division (NASDAQ:AMCC) will showcase its established Linux(R) compatibility leadership for RAID applications, with demonstrations of its newest SAS/SATA RAID controller, the 3ware 9690SA-4I and other award-winning 3ware(R) RAID controllers in booth 1226 of San Francisco's Moscone Center.



Show attendees will see the 3ware 9690SA-4I RAID controller, housed in an Area Electronics chassis utilizing a PMC Sierra(R) SAS expander, to spotlight 3ware support for VMware Visitors will see demonstrated support for server consolidation with virtualization as well as robust SAS component compatibility.

The second demonstration will feature two 24-port 3ware 9650SE-24M8 SATA II controllers and a 2-port, low-profile 9650SE-2LP controller, in a 50-drive Chenbro(R) enclosure to show exceptional controller performance and scalability. The demonstration previews AMCC's new 3ware Advanced Content Streaming (ACS) caching algorithm that substantially enhances performance for vertical applications, like security/surveillance, disk-to-disk backup, video editing and video playback, which stream sequential data.

3ware RAID controllers are available through AMCC's worldwide network of distributors, integrators and VARs. 3ware 9690SA SAS/SATA controllers, including the 3ware 9690SA-8I (8 internal ports), the 9690SA-8E (8 external ports) and the 9690SA-4I4E (4 internal and 4 external ports) list for $795; the 3ware 9690SA-4I (4 internal ports) lists for $395. 3ware 9650SE SATA II controllers are available in 2, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 24- port configurations. Suggested list pricing for the 2-port is $195; $395 for the 4-port configuration; $595 for the 8-port model; $995 for the 16-port model and ranges to $1595 for the 24-port configuration.
