Preparing for Success in the New Year: Is This the Year to Go Remote?

By Mostafa Razzak, Principal, JMR Connect

A raging debate seems to be splitting the business community in two. On one end, big tech companies such as Twitter (News - Alert) and Snap are ending remote work policies, citing productivity concerns.  Others, such as Facebook and Microsoft are holding firm that their employees are allowed to work remotely. The question is, who is right and who should we model our businesses after?

It appears that each organization is interpreting how to integrate remote work into their cultures differently. Whatever you decide, here are some tips to consider to keep your business humming along for the new year and beyond.

Events Continue to be Virtual and Hybrid

Conference goers have become accustomed to not being on the road, and many are not in a hurry to go back to the way things were before the global pandemic. Many are, instead, turning to virtual and hybrid events along with digital engagement platforms that allow persistent digital campuses to be available when you need them to be.

Keeping Remote Workers Productive

If your organization is planning to have remote employees on an ongoing basis, it is important to give them the software they need to be productive and without a lot of manual processes. Perhaps it is time to ditch the old time sheets and implement the next level technologies of time tracking with facial recognition.

Print is Not Dead

Choosing the best small business printer is not an afterthought or rush order – although for many businesses, it ends up that way. Making a conscious decision in this regard will lead to more reliable hardware, often even at a cost savings. Printers still serve a critical role in nearly all organizations, and it is important for them to be web-enabled, secure, and business-grade reliable to fit your business needs.

It’s Time to Stay Sharp (News - Alert) and Leverage Your Networks of Influence

Are you looking to move up in your organization or searching for greener pastures? Consider microlearning to quickly upskill yourself and make yourself more marketable. Additionally, look no further than the influencer networks you already have at your disposal. Powerful college alumni groups and corporate networks prove the old adage, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.”

Remember to Pause and Take Care of Yourself

Self-care has never been more crucial. Some important tips to keep in mind are carefully considering the quality of your bedding for proper sleep as well as considering what supplements to take to enhance your diet.

Should you need medical care during these unpredictable times; maybe even some level of infection control. You’ll find it time saving to utilize insurance card scan technologies when giving your healthcare system your medical data. Hospital systems also find themselves humming along efficiently through the use of pneumatic tube systems in healthcare campuses.

Bringing it all Together

The beginning of a new year often brings challenges but, a proper mindset and good planning can make this the best year yet for you professionally. What will the next year hold? Much ado about remote working – it’s time to adapt our workplaces for the long haul and prove out that it is a workable endeavor for many employees.

Here’s to your success!
