The Best Apps of 2022 (So Far)

Each year, we have access to hundreds of newly developed apps. In addition, our tried-and-true favorites are often updated with exciting new features and more streamlined user interfaces.

The choice is immense, so how do we know which apps provide the best service and usability and are not worth our time or storage capacity?

This list has selected 10 of the best must-have apps for your smartphone in 2022. No matter what type of device you use, they all provide the best in functionality, value for money, innovation, and usefulness.

1. Brave Privacy Browser

You can never be too careful about your online security, and Brave Privacy Browser is a fast, secure, and easy-to-use private web browser that gives you peace of mind when you’re on your phone.

You can browse freely and safely, knowing that you are not being tracked by advertisers, malware, or third-party cookies.

The app can even eliminate those pesky pop-up ads!

2. Sleep Cycle Power Nap

A power nap, a quick and short nap, is a great way to stay relaxed and mentally refreshed throughout the day. This app tracks your nap time and wakes you up with a gentle alarm once your allocated nap time is up.

But don’t worry, with the ‘recovery nap mode,’ you can be sure that it lets you complete your nap so that you are not interrupted in the middle of an all-important REM cycle.

3. PaperKarma

Reducing paper waste so that less of it ends up in landfills is a great way to help the environment and reduce recycling costs. PaperKarma helps you go one step further by getting rid of all the junk mail you don't need or want.

Take a photograph of the mail that you no longer want to receive, and the app does the rest. First, it contacts the sender and lets them know that you no longer want to receive their correspondence. Then, it stops the paper copies from coming to you.

4. Cookpad

Are you the type of person who gets a flash of culinary inspiration but struggles to find the perfect recipe to help you create your kitchen masterpiece?

Cookpad is the app for you. Not only does it connect you with thousands of tried-and-true recipes submitted by fellow users, but you can add your own recipes to the database and preserve your family favorites forever.

It also suggests other recipes based on your past preferences, meal types, tastes, and food choices.

5. Nu Skin TR90

There are hundreds of weight management, health, and lifestyle apps to choose from, but what sets Nu Skin TR90 apart from the pack is the easy-to-use interface that allows you to track in real-time your food and water intake and exercise for immediate results.

The ‘smart management’ function reminds you when to take supplements and offers tips to help you reach your goals faster, while its ‘data recording’ provides a scientific analysis of your body composition and charts your progress.

6. Anchor

We all have at least one podcast inside us waiting to get out, and Anchor is the app that makes this easy. Whether your experience level, technological know-how, or business savvy, Spotify’s (News - Alert) Anchor allows you to create the content you need, distribute it to your listeners, and monetize your time and efforts.

7. Sleep Talk Recorder

This app is perfect for those who have been told that you talk in your sleep but have no idea what you have been saying.

It works by recording only when it detects a voice during the night. This feature eliminates the problem of having to sort through hours of silence to get to what you want to hear, and it provides a fascinating window into your dreams and night-time thoughts.

8. Action Movie FX

This app allows you to add calm and amusing special effects to any video you record on your iPhone (News - Alert) or iPad. It has everything you need to liven up any video, from car crashes to missile strikes, and alien death-rays to environmental disasters.

And, for an extra fee, you have access to a massive database of different effects to choose from.

9. Any.Do

With a simple interface and intuitive layout, Any.Do is one of the best task management and ‘to do’ lists apps available for download.

Its individual and team functions are set apart from other comparable apps. So, not only can you use it to keep your private life in order, but it’s also great for workplace teams.

Any.Do is free to use and download, but you do not need to register or provide an email address to get started.

10. RunPee

With many of us heading back to the cinema to catch the latest blockbuster, this app is excellent for those who cannot watch a movie without visiting the bathroom at least once.

With Run Pee, you will no longer miss a crucial plot point or spectacular action sequence.

Just start the app as the movie begins, and it will let you know, discreetly, when it’s the best time for you to sneak out.

As an added extra, RunPee also lets you know whether you should stay and watch the credits for any bonus scenes.

It’s not easy to keep updated with the newest apps or the latest updates. However, this list of 10 of the best apps for your smartphone in 2022 makes the task as easy as clicking ‘install.’
