Tech innovations improving society

Over the last five years, technology has revolutionised our world, providing us with amazing tools and resources and allowing us to gather useful information at the push of a button.

Modern technology has cemented success for multi-functional devices such as smartphones and smartwatches. Gone are the times that you needed to check if someone was using the landline so that you could dial up the internet, thank goodness! Computers are now increasingly faster, more portable, and higher-powered than they’ve ever been before. With all of these advancements, technology has made our lives easier, more efficient, and just generally better in a number of ways!

With the development of devices such as tablets, smartphones and watches there are a number of things that have almost become redundant, many of us don’t even buy books anymore, we download it to our kindle, saving trees and space in our home one download at a time.  With these devices, we can do things such as online banking, shopping, order food, and watch TV shows and movies. Not only has technology made our lives more uplifting, it’s also made advancements when it comes to safety. Uber recently announced its safety features app, whereby riders are able to let their loved ones track their journey – removing the stigma of security uncertainty that comes with late night cab rides home. Smart security systems area readily available to be installed at home or in the office, these systems also connect to an app which can be accessed from your smart phone such as SimpliSafe.

Technology has also changed the way we communicate, some may argue not for the better but you certainly can’t argue that communication isn’t much faster. All you have to do is think about the times you had to write a letter, send a fax or find a telephone attached to a wire to communicate with someone. Now it’s instant and in real-time, with advances such as facetime, skype and WhatsApp call enabling us to quickly communicate with friends, family and business colleagues across the globe. Video chat also helps caregivers check on patients who may not need continual check-ups in person. It cuts off valuable time inviting everyone individually to a barbeque in two weeks’ time, you just need to create a group chat and send the message once.

On a slightly more serious note, technology has created new realms for businessmen to invest. It’s clearly a necessity, as long as there’s people, there’s always going to be a demand for technology. Whether that be through apps, stocks, or healthcare. 3D printing has sought interest from investors such as Tej Kohli and Foresignt Williams. Technology is one of the most powerful market forces in today's economy, allowing creators and innovators across the globe to add and capitalise upon entrepreneurial intelligence that bought us 3D printing initially.

Technology will continue to evolve, and the results that will be demonstrated in years to come will continue to make profound changes in our everyday lives, for the better. From medical enhancements, to intelligence, to food delivery and communication, it’s clear to see just how much society is benefiting from these innovations, who knows what the future will bring!
