Novel Technology to Help People Quit Smoking

Technology has gained popularity in the fight against smoking addiction, providing tobacco users with cessation support. Owing to advances in technology, smokers can now kick the habit and focus on the positive things in life. Scientists have recently come up with an automatic alert system that helps people get rid of their unhealthy habit by sending video messages. The mobile application, which is available only on Android (News - Alert) for the time being, sends 20 to 120 motivational video messages to users when the sensors, which are coupled with advanced information, identify specific arm and body movements. As opposed to conventional treatments, such as adhering to medications, wearable sensor technology helps quitting smoking as a process, offering advantages such as nonstop visibility and transparency, automated remote monitoring, and real-time impact.

The product was designed by the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science researchers at Case Western Reserve University. It was conceived, developed, and tested over a long period of time. The results are impressive. The system is capable of making the difference between smoking and other hand-to-mouth activities like eating or drinking. The technology-enhanced solution for smoking cessation was born out of the desire to help individuals break the habit. The smartphone application enables smoking reduction through ongoing monitoring and notification. If the user is detected smoking, then they are reminded about their plan to quit. More often than not, the app sends video messages that draw attention to the health and financial advantages of getting rid of this unhealthy habit.

No shortage of products to go smokeless

There are various options for those who are looking forward to stopping smoking. Examples include but are not limited to nicotine gum, prescription drugs, and e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes – in other words, electronic nicotine delivery systems – considerably reduce smoking prevalence, helping tobacco smokers quit smoking for good. The nicotine strength can be controlled, which means that it is possible to drop a nicotine level and make a change in their smoking habits. VapeActive insists on the fact that nicotine replacement therapy is effective. Vape pens are technological solutions that do not generate problems. For the time being, they are safe. It is recommendable to read in-depth read vaporizer reviews prior to making a purchase.

In spite of the fact that there are several solutions to help people resist tobacco cravings, it seems that none are as effective as wearable technology. Why is it that this smoke cessation system produces such good results? It has something to do with the fact that the system is specific to each person’s habits. The mobile alert helps users stay focused throughout the day. What is more, it ensures mindfulness training and personalized plans for kicking the habit.  The fact is that mobile and wireless technologies are used to a large extent so as to support the achievement of health objectives.

It is a good thing that the experts have developed a system that monitors the smoking activity of users based on sensors. Tobacco is the most difficult addiction to overcome and individuals do not seem to make very much progress on their own. They need help and they need it right away.
