At ITEXPO: Smart Faxing Starts With Smart ATA, says Conexiant

By Rory J. Thompson, Web Editor

With all the security issues companies have to be concerned about these days, the last thing they want to fret over is faxing. Yet this old standby technology is getting new scrutiny, and leaving an important fax sitting on an open machine is seen as akin to leaving the office door unlocked on a Friday night. It’s just not wise.

That’s probably one reason of many why Conexiant Telecom announced that it has selected Smart ATA from NetGen Communications, with its patented SmartFoIP technology, as the exclusive provider for fax adapters for its customers worldwide. The announcement came at ITEXPO (News - Alert), underway this week in Ft. Lauderdale.

For those who might not be aware, SmartFoIP is the primary differentiator in the ATA market, according to NetGen. “It eliminates the two largest problems experienced with Fax over IP (FoIP): the ‘G.711 clock-sync issue’ and the ‘late T.38 re-invite problem.”

And there’s more.

“Smart ATA is an ATA that not only offers the service provider a high-function, voice-fax ATA with FXO capability, but also includes patented technology that finally makes FoIP calls as reliable as PSTN fax calls,” NetGen says on its website. “Moreover, Smart ATA includes full support for T.38 version 3 with V.34, enabling it to send and receive faxes at twice the speed of non-V.34 capable ATAs. With Smart ATA, NetGen truly defines the next-generation ATA.”

"We are very excited to be working with Conexiant to provide the Smart ATA to bolster their customers' fax experience," said Michael Coffee (News - Alert), CEO of NetGen Communications, in commenting on the announcement. "[We’re] honored that our Smart ATA has been selected through a rigorous testing process."

Conexiant Telecom has provided wholesale telecommunications services to varying-sized service providers since 2011. NetGen Communications, Inc., a spin-off of Commetrex (News - Alert) Corporation, recently announced a development and marketing partnership with New Rock Technologies of Salem, NH, and Shanghai.  The first product produced by the partnership is Smart ATA, which incorporates NetGen’s Smart FoIP technology.
