Illinois-based CDW (News - Alert) Corporation announced its new service, CDW Total Mobility Management, earlier this week. The service aims to provide customers with total control over company mobile devices, from applications to data use.

CDW recently conducted research that suggests most people don’t have much faith in their company’s ability to manage mobile devices in the workplace.  In fact, CDW alleges that 56 percent of employees give their employers a C grade or less when it comes to mobile management in a soon-to-be released study.

Based on that information, CDW has launched the new Total Mobility Management service that makes management of devices, apps and data simpler. The service covers planning and policy creation, procurement of devices (and support for bring-your-own-device programs — a critical growth area), security, live desk help services and revolutionizes the way employees use their devices on a daily-basis.

According to Whiting Petroleum’s IT support services manager Olaf Foote, the Denver-based oil and gas company has been using CDW’s management solution for over a year. Foote stated their “solution has more than paid for itself,” as they’ve been able to identify devices that aren’t being used and have optimized mobile plans to better suit their needs.

Steve Zimmer of Stepan Company says his company has also experienced savings to the tune of a “20 to 25 percent reduction” in mobile-related costs by using CDW’s management solutions.

In addition to saving money, Foote says CDW’s “MDM solution assures us that if a device is stolen or lost...its access to our network was well-controlled in the first place, and we can erase the data on it remotely.”
