Polycom Seals the Deal with Sentri

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

Polycom’s acquisition of Sentri, Inc. has been completed, with a definitive agreement in place. This will provide Polycom with Sentri’s expansive services and Microsoft (News - Alert) expertise, helping better integrate Microsoft Lync with Polycom solutions.

Sentri comes with experience and expertise in UC&C, VoIP, and security, including but not at all limited to, Microsoft and Polycom (News - Alert). Upon being acquired, Sentri’s leaders will report to Polycom’s SVP, Navin Mehta, and to North America sales leadership, which it will work closely with. Its customers will continue to receive the services they purchased, which Polycom’s customers will soon be able to access as well.

With the acquisition of Sentri, Polycom and its partners will be able to deliver advanced services. These services include not only multi-vendor UC solutions for data, networking, video, and voice, but also consulting, design, deployment, and maintenance for Unified Communications (News - Alert) and Collaboration environments.

Furthermore, Sentri’s acquisition should help Polycom complement the capabilities of its partners, creating new opportunities and improving revenue, which can be quite a large sum in a global market of $1.6 billion. The transaction itself will be at somewhere below $10 million, and should close in the first quarter of 2013.

“Sentri provides Polycom and our partners with needed advanced services capabilities to consult, design and implement UC&C solutions, and Sentri’s expertise in providing specific Microsoft Lync services is a key skill-set as Lync adoption continues to increase,” says Sudhakar Ramakrishna, president of Products and Services at Polycom. “Delivering a robust services portfolio provides Polycom and our partners with the opportunity to not only grow revenues, but also to increase the strategic value we bring to customers by serving as trusted advisors to help them solve their communications objectives as their businesses grow.”

The deal has been underway for a while now, but it looks like it’ll be closing soon. Polycom will gain plenty of great services from Sentri, not to mention the experience and expertise with Microsoft technologies that can give Polycom a real boost with its Lync integrations. We can look forward to great things from Polycom upon its completion.
