New Photopoll App: Better Than Instagram

By Ashley Caputo, TMCnet Web Editor

As the social media world battles within its realm to create the next most used platform and downloaded app, companies have begun to use Twitter (News - Alert), Facebook and Instagram as starting points for new project developments.

TenFarms has launched Photopoll, a spin-off of Instagram, the most popular online photo-sharing app. Instagram allows users to share images and commentary with their “followers,” along with the ability to create different effects and apply digital-filters to their photos. Taking into account how successful the social media platforms have been, especially photo sharing, TenFarms has raised the bar higher by creating an app that allows users to share multiple images in a single post and with more creative photo-editing abilities.

Photopoll uses a patent-pending technology that allows users to select two to five images from their devices and other mobile platforms, like Instagram and Amazon.com (News - Alert), and create a college to post in a central feed where friends can vote on their favorites. Through the multiple image features, Photopoll hopes to create from expression, public opinion and story-telling capabilities.

According to Nils Forsblom, the founder and CEO of TenFarms, “The power of sharing multiple photos at once is immense, allowing us to provide greater context on our thoughts for the moment and accessing more support for the decisions we face every day. With Photopoll, we’re offering this through a combination of utility, fun and social networking that both consumers and businesses will find useful.

Integration is a large factor in social media now, as users want to be able to access all their accounts from a single device or platform. Taking that into consideration, TenFarms also created features to connect with friends via Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter, and has future plans to expand additional mobile platforms and integrate more image sources from other online places.

From the developments on the market, it seems that the key to creating a successful social media platform or app is to keep integration and mobile accessibility at the forefront.
