Partnerpedia CEO Predicts Technology Trends for 2013

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Web Editor

They say it is a curse to live in interesting times, but for those who conduct business in the technology and communications space, it’s definitely a blessing. There are a number of dynamic trends that have shaped the industry in recent years and will guide its future. Anyone with a vested interest in technology certainly has strong thoughts about the trends that will shape the coming years, and that certainly holds true for Mark Sochan, CEO of Partnerpedia, a provider of enterprise app store solutions.

Sochan sees enterprise mobility as the most significant technology trend right now, as it enables users to conduct business anywhere at any time using whatever tools they choose. This, of course, ties into the BYOD trend, and Sochan points out that companies and workers need to collaborate on decisions of user privacy and liability. He sees enterprise app stores as a less intrusive way to deal with liability and privacy issues wrapped into the BYOD trend.

In the same vein, he sees the consumer app store paradigm and ecosystem as being extremely disruptive to the business realm. “It will change the way IT procures, distributes and manages apps, and end-users will set a new standard of how they choose the apps and devices they use to be productive,” Sochan said in an interview. He does caution, however, that consumerization of IT is not just about mobile devices and apps. He sees it as an entirely new application paradigm encompassing mobile, cloud and desktop applications.

Because social media and enterprise apps have been making customers smarter and more informed, Sochan feels that, in the future, businesses will need to be more customer service oriented than ever. Another prediction for the future is that people will continue to consume content on tablets, but will create content on laptops and desktops.

Finally, Sochan is looking forward to attending ITEXPO (News - Alert) Miami, where he will be able to interact with customers who want to address the aforementioned trends of BYOD and consumerization of IT.
