Partnerpedia: The One Stop Shop for Enterprise Apps

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Web Editor

Partnerpedia came into existence in 1994, specializing in custom Web application development. But in 2010, the company changed its focus and has now dedicated itself to its Web app platform. It sees enterprise app stores as a fast growing market that is fed by the explosion of mobile devices. The company knows that there is a transformation happening, and that businesses and enterprises are looking for the best apps for employee devices and pushing IT departments to help workers become more productive in the business world.

Companies are looking for a one stop shop for business applications, and seeking ways to stop business apps from becoming entangled with personal apps. With Partnerpedia, businesses can have their own enterprise apps stores. This allows employees to have a single place to search for apps to increase business productivity and look at ratings and reviews of individual applications. The Partnerpedia services are especially designed for companies with more than 500 employees, making it easier for those employees, as well as customers and partners, to access the app store.

In this model, apps are not purchased individually. Companies pre-purchase licenses that are distributed and managed for the organization. Apps like Quick Office and Evernote (News - Alert) are made available to employees who benefit from the ease of use and flexibility of the company app store. IT departments can also choose to make apps available to different employees based on certain criteria, such as department.

The stores work on a self-service, SaaS (News - Alert) model. The IT manager comes to Partnerpedia, sets up a free trial and creates an app store branded with the company logo. That manager can upload in-house apps or elements, or select from a catalog of popular business apps.

In the era of mobility, it makes sense to set up these kinds of stores so workers have access to the apps they need and IT departments have the security and control they need. Therefore, it makes sense to partner with Partnerpedia.
