Pinterest Announces Secret Boards

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Pinterest, a virtual pin board that lets people organize and ‘pin’ all the awesome things they encounter on the Internet or share personal plans, now has a solution for those ideas that you want to keep secret.

Users can now use the newly released Secret Boards to pin private stuff, keep record of holiday gifts, plan special events or work on projects that are not yet ready to debut to the world. The management of the secret boards works from a personal preference basis, meaning that you can choose ideas that you want to view your pinups and even help you in the pinning process.

Currently, users can only move to a secret wall by creating an entirely new board, since there is no way to turn previously made boards secret. For new boards, there is even the option turning ON (News - Alert) or OFF the privacy of these newly created boards.

With Pinterest, users can collect and organize jumbled ideas as they come across while browsing. For instance, the website’s boards help plan weddings, create interior decoration themes and come up with clothing styles, among many other usages.

Since the power of Pinterest comes from the sharing aspect, it beats logic to have a fully private and rigid board. The developers of this innovative website admit this; hence they have created a flexibility that allows the sharing of ideas and the option of sharing. However, this is still expected to make an impact on the raw power of Pinterest. In the past, ideas were available for all to see. This might change with the advent of private boards.

For those who have not yet discovered Pinterest, you can start by heading over to the main website and registering for an account. Pinterest, together with the private board feature, are also accessible as iOS and Android (News - Alert) apps allowing you to now set up secret boards on the go.
