PingOne Enables SAML-based SSO at No Charge

By Frank Griffin, TMCnet Contributing Writer

As more applications move in the cloud, additional security measures have to be implemented to ensure users are protected at all times. Ping Identity is a leader in cloud identity security, providing enterprises SAML-based SSO (Single Sign-on) for cloud applications. The company’s PingOne Application Provider Services Free Plan gives SaaS (Software-as-a-service) application architects the ability to implement SAML based SSO quickly.

SAML or Security Assertion Markup Language is a XML (Extensible Markup Language) standard.  It allows developers to create security parameters for different platforms including B2B, B2C and cloud authentication protocols. Assertions, protocols and bindings are the three components that specify SAML. Each of these components defines security measure for users, protocols for how SMAL requests and obtains assertions, and mapping of message exchanges.

“Many enterprises need secure, SAML-based SSO for their cloud apps, but most SaaS (News - Alert) providers do not support it yet. Its implementation can pull developers from other important features and enhancements. PingOne enables secure SSO in about an hour, while also providing on-premises user management capabilities,” said Mark Diodati, director of product marketing for Ping Identity.

The free offer plan will be made available for the first customer with SSO no matter how many users the organization has. It includes a full-featured renewable subscription license, technical support, integration and options to offer self-service SSO set up to customers. Any additional customers will be charged a nominal fee. SaaS companies who integrate PingOne will have:

  • The ability to support SaaS application in one hour for faster implementation, functionality, security and automatic updates
  • Simple integration using the SaaS company’s chosen platform with a one-time set up to the SaaS application using REST APIs.
  • User management with a customer’s user directory without complicated LDAP and propriety toolkits without the need to store passwords and usernames.
  • Saas companies can test SSO connection by validating the service with support for production environments, staging, development and testing.

The PingOne subscription gives SaaS companies a concierge service with service updates and support with  unlimited email and telephone, nine-hour local time configuration; Monday through Friday and 24/7 support for production outages.

More than 800 of the world’s largest companies, cloud businesses and government organizations use cloud identity security solutions by Ping Identity. Forty five of the Fortune 100 also rely on the company to provide reliable services to hundreds of millions of their employees, partners and consumers.
