Spokes from Plantronics Boosts UC Efficiency

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

Plantronics (News - Alert) customers are in for a treat: customers using a Plantronics headset over UC platforms can now download Spokes, the company’s flagship call control software. With it, they can find and connect with people over Plantronics audio devices and UC software with greater ease than ever before.

The Spokes software can be deployed and managed from the Plantronics Enterprise Manager, a software solution for IT used for editing the Spokes installation file to create a customized version. Developers can also use the Spokes software developer kit to create a variety of applications that use contextual information to further improve the user experience.

Spokes is currently available for Windows, Mac, and IBM (News - Alert) Sametime. There are some differences between the various versions, but they all offer the same basic capabilities. It’s also advised that Spokes is used with the Plantronics Voyager PRO UC headset, which provides a variety of helpful capabilities, such as automatic answering when the headset is placed in, and media pausing when it’s removed, transfers to and from mobile phones, updated presence, and many more.

“Plantronics’ Spokes portfolio lets enterprise users optimize their UC audio experience with handy call control, but it also enables so much more,” says Bill Loewenthal, VP of United Communications Solutions at Plantronics. “With the availability of the Spokes SDK, developers can now tap into the unique information known only by the headset, and through applications, create an even richer and more intuitive communications environment.”

Plantronics is known for providing high quality headsets and software that works with them. They enable improved communications and audio quality with headsets as smart as the devices they’re attached to, and the Spokes software makes them even more convenient. With a wide range of call control capabilities, users can maximize the benefits from their communications tools.
