By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Thinking of buying a ticket for your friend’s favorite event? Well, modern technology is in your hands, which makes it extremely easy to book a ticket for an event and then transfer it to your friend; all from the comforts of your phone.

Vendini, a company that provides event ticketing and logistics software, has recently introduced Walletini, the first free mobile application to manage tickets to concerts, sporting events, performing arts and other live entertainment events.

With Walletini, users can find events near them, purchase tickets, store their tickets, and transfer tickets to other people. They can even collect payments for the tickets they transfer, the company stated in a release.

This application from Vendini is the first of its kind to cater to the quickly growing need in the Friend-to-Friend (F2F) ticketing market. This is the unserved market between primary and secondary ticketing where fans buy tickets for their friends. Walletini builds upon mobile and social technologies, the company stated in a press release.

“We wanted to create a platform that makes it easy to store tickets on your mobile device, transfer them to your friends, and use them for entry," said Mark Tacchi, CEO and founder of Vendini in a company press release. "Because it's a cross platform app, you can transfer tickets to your friends regardless of what smartphone they're using.”

In 2011, the company released new mobile capabilities to lets users use their smartphones to buy tickets and gain access to concerts, sporting events, and other live performances without touching a paper. This ability lets venues to come up with their own QR codes for buying the tickets. Any of the estimated 82.2 million Americans with a smartphone can scan the code off a print ad, direct mail piece or even an online site and purchase a ticket.
