Fort Lauderdale-based VoIP, Inc. named B. Michael Adler as the company’s new CEO on Tuesday.

Adler replaces company founder, chairman and CEO Steven Ivester, who will become VoIP, Inc.’s corporate strategist.

VoIP, Inc. provides voice-over-IP based solutions for residential and business customers.

“What Mr. Ivester has accomplished is nothing short of incredible,” Adler said in a prepared statement.  “In 18 months VoIP, Inc. has gone from zero revenues as a start up to a $50 million run rate.”

Also during that period of time, VoIP, Inc. went on quite a spending spree, acquiring four companies, including Volo, WQN’s VoIP business, and VoIP Americas.

VoIP, Inc. said that Adler has been the chairman of the board of WQN, Inc. since the company’s inception in 1996.  He is also the CEO of Eagle Venture Capital and a director of Intellical, Inc.

Be sure to catch the debut of the Service Provider Summit at this fall’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo, which runs October 24-27, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, focusing on key issues number portability, ENUM, QoS, next-generation OSS and much more.
