UTStarcom Integrates Video Encoding Platform Into IPTV Solution Deployed in India

Digital video solutions company Optibase, Ltd. announced this week that its H.264 Media Gateway (News - Alert) 5100 IPTV encoding platform is being integrated into UTStarcom’s end-to-end RollingStretam IPTV (News - Alert) solution, for a deployment by IPTV solutions provider Aksh Optifibre Limited in India.


 
Optibase’s carrier-grade TV streaming platform is enabling Aksh to utilize H.264 encoding.
 
“The video quality and customer response time of Optibase is commendable,” said  K.S.Choudhari, managing director of Aksh, in a statement. “We see a long term relation with this company.”
 
Udi Shani, executive vice president of sales at Optibase, said the collaboration with UTStarcom (News - Alert) and installation at Aksh is an important strategic step for the company.
 
“We believe that our expertise in high-quality video streaming over IP networks combined with UTStarcom’s integration capabilities creates a winning IPTV solution,” Shani said in a statement.
 
Aksh Optifibre Limited was incorporated in 1986 as a private company and went public in March, 1994. Today is claims to be the second largest company in the Indian Optical Fibre cable industry, known for its manufacturing of optic fibre cables and fibre to home cables.
 
Alameda, California-based UTStarcom was founded in 1991 and today is a globall leader in IP-based, end-to-end networking solutions and international service and support. The company sells its broadband, wireless, and handset solutions to operators in both emerging and established telecommunications markets around the world and has research and design operations in the United States, Canada, China, Korea and India.
 
UTStarcom's Rolling Stream is an end-to-end solution designed for use by telecommunications operators and broadband service providers, which use the solution to deliver broadcast quality TV and on-demand entertainment programming over IP networks.
 
Optibase is headquartered in Israel, operates through its fully owned subsidiary in Mountain View, California and offices in, Japan, China, India and Singapore. The company provides professional encoding, decoding, video server upload and streaming solutions for telecom operators, service providers, broadcasters and content creators.
 
The company’s platforms allow the creation, broadband streaming and playback of high quality digital video. Optibase’s breadth of product offerings are used in applications, such as: video over DSL/Fiber networks, post production for the broadcast and cables industries, archiving; high-end surveillance, distance learning; and business television.
