ASENTINEL RECEIVES COMPREHENSIVE PATENT FOR TELECOM EXPENSE MANAGEMENT

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (March 13, 2008) – Asentinel (News - Alert) announced today that it has received a United States patent covering core elements of its groundbreaking telecom expense management (TEM) software, Asentinel 5.0.
The patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,340,422), entitled Systems and Methods for Processing and Managing Telecommunications Invoices, has 56 claims covering a broad range of TEM functionality, including importing invoices in such a way that allows for efficient and consistent processing when invoices are received from multiple vendors.

The claims also include efficiently breaking invoice charges down into their smallest components. This allows close scrutiny and business analysis of the validity and accuracy of charges, as well as identification and display of billing exceptions.
“We are delighted to receive this patent that recognizes the innovative features that Asentinel introduced to the marketplace,” said David Perdue, Asentinel CEO. “We have long highlighted that when we introduced our Asentinel TEM software, we were the first to develop truly innovative solutions to address the challenging task of processing telecom invoices. This patent, granted from an application filed in 2003, serves as a testament to this view, and recognizes our industry leadership.”
Ralph Rodriguez, senior VP of Technology Research at Aberdeen (News - Alert) Group, agrees.
"Asentinel's recent award of a US Patent further validates that their technology platform is unique and leading-edge in the TEM market,” said Rodriguez. "The patent covers the lifecycle of TEM including identifying billing exceptions, cost allocation, and processing telecommunications invoices. This ensures customers can maximize their savings and lower the costs of processing invoices.”
Rodriguez continues, “Asentinel’s capability extends beyond existing EDI or XML standards to ensure an improved way to communicate and give feedback to the vendor regarding billing exceptions received. This holistic approach to the invoice value chain of multiple vendors, disparate nomenclatures and billing systems enables specialized reports. These include audit, summary and customizable reports that will provide valuable feedback on the transactions that are processed through the entire system. This will enable customers to trend invoices and to further optimize overall spending."
Asentinel continues to strive for innovation in the field, with plans to continue to build upon its reputation in the industry.
“This patent adds to a series of recent successes for Asentinel,” commented Jason Fisher, chief software architect. “Asentinel continues to lead the market with cutting-edge innovations and a growing international customer base.”
He noted that in addition to receiving this patent, the company has gained recent attention by entering into several strategic agreements with software providers and business process outsourcers, including CA (News - Alert) (Computer Associates), one of the world’s largest IT management software providers.
“Asentinel is on a roll,”said Fisher. “We have further patent applications pending both domestically and internationally that will only further solidify our market leading position.”
“From day one, our mission has been to provide the world’s best telecom expense management software,” said Perdue. “Through the years, we have continued to innovate, listen to our customers, and stay on top of this dynamic industry. Our ability to remain flexible and relevant has allowed us to successfully build upon the foundation we laid in the beginning.”
