GL Communications Unveils the BRI Phone Simulator (BPS)

GL Communications (News - Alert) Inc. has released its new product — the BRI Phone Simulator (BPS). The DCOSS BRI Phone Simulator links to a BRI Network to support up to 128 Digital phones for every DCOSS System. Additionally, it also supports 1 D-Channel and 2 B-Channels.

The BPS also includes features such as Voice, Fax and Modem Call Generation and Reception; Generation and Detection of DTMF/MF; and Generation and Detection of Single/Dual Frequency Tones.

Basically, the BPS transforms the company’s DCOSS into a BRI ISDN Terminal Phone Simulator. With the help of a basic DCOSS, E1 PRI ISDN trunks and a BPS external box, the solution can be implemented for the testing of a BRI Network. The DCOSS is linked to the BPS through a PRI ISDN E1 trunk. Utilizing the DCOSS GUI, calls are generated to the BPS. The BPS offers support for both outgoing as well as incoming BRI calls. And, to connect to the BPS, a standard RJ-45 is used.

“A digital call signifies BRI Phone off hook with DTMF/MF dialed digits from the BPS. Each of the BRI Digital ports (up to 8 per BPS, maximum of 128 ports per DCOSS system) serve as an independent BRI telephone, which can be individually configured and activated for various telephony tasks,” said Rob Bichefsky, Senior Manager of Product Development at GL.

“All functionality currently associated with the DCOSS, including bulk calling, scripting, and remote client/server, may be used to control the BPS external ports. Also, all traffic supported by the DCOSS (Fax, Modem, Voice Files, DTMF/MF Digits, and Frequency Tones) is also fully supported by the DCOSS BPS device,” Bichefsky added.

Additionally, GL Communications offers a DCOSS APS (Analog Phone Simulator). The product transforms a GL DCOSS into an analog phone simulator, which simulates up to 384 analog telephones. With the help of a basic DCOSS, T1 trunks, and APSCB24/48 external boxes, the simulator can be installed to test a Central Office (CO), PBX (News - Alert), Gateway, and other telecommunications equipment that offer local loop interfaces.
