SatMAX Reports Record-Breaking Number of Inquiries From Navy Purchase Order
HOUSTON, TX, Mar 22, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- SatMAX Corporation (PINKSHEETS: SATM), a leading global provider of wireless, non-line of sight, satellite communications equipment, announced a record-breaking number of inquiries following receipt of its second purchase order from the U.S. Navy. In the past four weeks, SATM has received inquiries from aircraft manufacturers, defense contractors and international satellite communications networks.
Commenting on this achievement, SATM CEO Don Bresina said, "The Navy's creative use of our SatMAX(R) repeater technology opens an attractive market opportunity for our company. We are anxious to learn about the many different applications the Navy intends for us to target. We believe the market for testing satellite communications equipment, as identified by this Navy application, may rival that of the handheld satellite telephones. We believe this is the reason for the many inquiries we are now receiving, especially from aircraft manufacturers." Adds recently appointed Technology Director, Ken Carlsen: "The Navy has been great to work with on this project, and they have helped me to develop a clear insight into what's needed to help drive this product forward. It is apparent that demand for SatMAX(R) exists well beyond our initial concept of repeating handheld satellite telephone signals." Wireless satellite telephone communications require a direct line of sight to the sky to create a link between the handheld satellite phone and the orbiting satellite. This communication link is interrupted when a sat-phone user steps indoors. SatMAX(R) repeater technology enables satellite communications users to quickly and easily make fully wireless voice and data communications from any non-line-of-sight location. Historically limited by the requirement for satellite phones to have line-of-sight access to orbiting satellites, with SatMAX(R) users now have the ability to access dependable and uninterrupted wireless satellite communications.
About SatMAX SatMAX Corporation is dedicated to providing global wireless, non-line-of-sight, satellite voice and data communications links to government, military, and commercial and industrial customers.
