Rasheeda S. Liberty Appointed as first Black woman to serve on ALSAC Professional Advisory Board


Leader and philanthropist Rasheeda S. Liberty has been appointed to serve on the ALSAC Professional Advisory Board, marking a milestone as the first Black woman to hold this prestigious position. ALSAC is the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, dedicated to advancing cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases.

Liberty brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role on the ALSAC Professional Advisory Board, a forum for leaders, innovators and influencers to share experiences and present ideas to lead ALSAC and St. Jude into new and emerging markets and opportunities to successfully reach their strategic objectives. As the International President for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Liberty has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to philanthropy. Her longstanding relationship with ALSAC has included spearheading a successful campaign by Sigma Gamma Rho to raise $1 million for St. Jude, showcasing her unwavering dedication to the mission of the renowned children's research hospital. Rasheeda's corporate prowess, negotiation, and finance skills are evident in the various industries she has worked in such as banking, financial services, corporate law, insurance, media, heavy equipment leasing, consumer packaged goods, and most recently tech and sports. Her professional background adds versatility to the ALSAC Professional Advisory Board.

"Rasheeda's experience leading Sigma Gamma Rho is a strong addition to the ALSAC Professional Advisory Board, which in turn means she'll help improve our efforts to drive awareness of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "I know Rasheeda will bring great perspective and innovative ideas that will help make a difference in the lives of children everywhere."

As a board member, Liberty will lend her industry expertise to develop ideas and initiatives that further ALSAC's strategic objectives in support of St. Jude, which is in the midst of a $12.9 billion strategic plan focusing on the expansion of patient care and clinical and laboratory-based research related to pediatric catastrophic illnesses. She will also serve on special sub-committees to address the unique needs of the organization and provide leadership to elevate fundraising and awareness efforts locally and nationally.
