2019 Talent Management Technology Value Matrix Underscores Value in AI and Third-Party Integrations

Nucleus Research has released the 2019 Talent Management Technology Value Matrix, an assessment of the talent management technology market based on the value customers realize from the product usability and functionality that talent management vendors are currently delivering with their solutions.

The Nucleus Talent Management Technology Value Matrix measures the ability of analytics vendors to deliver value in usability and functionality and are placed into four categories: Leaders, Experts, Facilitators, and Core Providers. Customers can use the Matrices to evaluate vendor short lists as well as to make the case for maintaining existing applications.

Talent Management Technology Leaders include: Ceridian, Corerstone OnDemand, Oracle Talent Management Cloud, PeopleFluent, Saba Software, SAP SuccessFactors, SumTotal Systems (News - Alert), and Talentsoft.

Once dominated by larger human capital management (HCM) vendors, the talent management market has welcomed smaller niche vendors in recent years that have found a unique edge through specific processes. Leading vendors have rolled out AI-driven learning solutions that give customers tailor-made experiences to meet their individual needs. Integration with larger HCM platforms is another common trend among the top talent management vendors that are looking to boost their customer reach.

"The market for talent management software has evolved considerably in recent years, now attracting smaller vendors that fulfill niche areas where larger HCM players traditionally fall short," says Ian Campbell, CEO of Nucleus Research. "The leaders selected in this year's Matrix have continued to deliver value to their customers by catering to their unique needs."

"As AI capabilities become table stakes for many talent management vendors, customers are looking to see who will take it to the next level whether that be by forging new AI capabilities or implementing components of AI into existing processes," says Trevor White, analyst at Nucleus Research. "We predict that the pressure to integrate or forge new partnerships with larger vendors will increasingly divide the talent management market, leaving vendors with the notion that if they're not 'in,' they'll soon be out."
