Minister Sohi Promotes Canada as Prime Investment Destination During CERAWeek Visit

HOUSTON, TX, March 13, 2019 /CNW/ - Canada continues to demonstrate leadership in the global energy transformation. We are maximizing our energy advantage and diverse energy mix to grow our economy, develop sustainable communities and create good jobs.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, today concluded a successful trip to the Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) Week 2019 conference in Houston, Texas, reiterating Canada's commitment to sustainable resource development and to becoming the world's energy supplier of choice.

In his discussions with many of the international industry executives in attendance, Minister Sohi promoted Canada as a preferred partner for trade and investment, as well as a reliable and sustainable supplier of energy products, technologies and services. He highlighted the need for the U.S. and Canada to expand cross-border energy infrastructure and underlined how triffs on products like steel and aluminum work against our goals of building a more integrated North American economy and energy sector.

While in Houston, Minister Sohi also participated in a trilateral North American Energy Ministerial Meeting with his counterparts Rick Perry, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and Rocio Nahle, Mexico's Secretary of Energy, which focused on increasing collaboration and strengthening our already prosperous and integrated continental energy market. Minister Sohi raised the importance of the Keystone XL and Line 3 pipelines.

The Minister reaffirmed these points as part of a panel discussion with Bento Albuquerque, Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, Maria Fernanda Suarez, Minister of Mines and Energy of Colombia, and Secretary Nahle of Mexico.

Throughout the CERA Week conference, Minister Sohi conveyed Canada's energy vision with his global counterparts. Canada is uniquely positioned to provide cleaner fossil fuels and technologies to a world that increasingly values sustainable practices and low-carbon processes.
