Forum Aims to Promote Business Partnerships with Japan

TORONTO, May 4, 2018 /CNW/ - Canadian companies will gather in Toronto on May 10 to learn how to take advantage of opportunities to increase their business in Japan with a focus on developing new innovation and new markets through Japanese partnerships.

Canada is facing uncertainty with some existing trade and investment partners but at the same time can look forward to new markets as a result of initiatives such as The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CP-TPP), of which Canada and Japan are the two major economies. Also, both Canada and Japan need to innovate in order to compete with growing global competition. By working together, Canadian and Japanese companies can create new innovation and access new markets.

As Keynote speaker, NTT Data, Japan's number one systems integrator, will explain how they find and introduce promising startups to business units and customers of NTT DATA and run programs that put partner startups on the fast track to proof-of-concept and new business. Attendees will also learn from a panel of Canadian companies in a variety of sectors that are having success in the Japanese market.

Forum highlights include:

  • iNAGO: Toronto firm that has been in Japan for two decades having partnered with major Japanese firms including Brother, Clarion, Denso, Fujitsu, NEC Personal Computers, NTT Docomo and Toyota to develop next-generation solutions for in-car infotainment systems, smartphones and robots.
  • Autonomous_ID: Ottawa "Internet of Me" leader with its biometric credentialing system designed to meet security, mobility and privacy needs in a broad range of applications including mHealth for monitoring disease progression and responding to falls; winner of a Tokyo Government global Fintech accelerator competition.
  • Mnubo: Montreal IoT analytics and artificial intelligence solutions provider has recently entered and found customers in the Japanese market.
