Scott Hotes Joins TeenSafe As Chief Technology Officer

In his role at TeenSafe, Hotes will oversee all software development, applying his expertise in network architecture, location tracking and scalable software to current and future TeenSafe products. Hotes will lead an accomplished team, which includes two additional former employees of Location Labs - Mitch Ozer, Head of Product and Dave Charness, Senior Software Engineer. Together, the highly-skilled group will drive TeenSafe's new data and location monitoring features and products that help parents oversee the digital safety of their teens.

Prior to joining TeenSafe, Hotes served as CTO of the quantitative hedge fund, Voleon Capital Management. From 2001 to 2014, Hotes held the position of CTO and SVP of Engineering at Location Labs, a mobile security company focused on secure location-based services for guardians across a variety of networks that sold to AVG in 2014 and was later acquired by Avast Software in 2016. Hotes has also held positions with the US Department of Defense specializing in Internet and data security, data mining and information and traffic modeling. He was also previously responsible for innovations within the SGI Irix operating system at Silicon Graphics.

Hotes has presented at large industry conferences, including the O'Reilly Where Conference on location-aware software solutions, CTIA, Privacy Identity Innovation (PII) and the IEEE PerCom, amongst others. He has also been published in a wide range of disciplines spanning discrete mathematics, elementary particle physics, analytical chemistry and geophysics. He holds a Ph.D. in Particle Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Mathematical Physics from Case Western Reserve University.
