Kurka secured a gold medal on the first day of the Paralympic Winter Games in men's sitting downhill with a blistering time of 1:24.11, more than a second and a half ahead of the competition. On the following day, Kurka stood on the podium once again, earning a silver medal in men's sitting super-G. Together with this year's Winter Olympics, the Winter Paralympics were hosted in PyeongChang. The 2018 Paralympic Winter Games brought together 569 athletes from 49 nations.
