BabyCenter® Announces Winners of 2018 Moms' Picks Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BabyCenter®, the #1 pregnancy and parenting digital resource, today announced the winners of its fifth annual Moms' Picks awards, given to the gear and products voted best by parents.

BabyCenter Moms' Picks - Best of 2018

Based on open online voting that generated more than 87,000 votes, parents rated key baby and toddler products in 27 categories.

"One of the perks of modern parenthood is the variety of baby products available today. But with so many choices and so little time, it can be overwhelming," says Linda Murray, senior vice president and global editor in chief of BabyCenter.

"Recommendations from other moms and dads cut through the confusion. Those parents have been there, they know what's needed, and they're happy to share what works and what doesn't. BabyCenter's Moms' Picks is a uniquely powerful tool that brings parent recommendations together in one place and reveals products that have been road- and stress-tested by thousands of parents," Murray adds.

Murray notes that an increasing number of product winners are multistage or multiuse, intended to last through several stages of a child's development or do more than one job for a parent.

"These products lie at the intersection of several trends. Millennial and Gen Z parents tend to live in smaller spaces, have more modest incomes, and prefer to buy less, discard less, and get the most out of what they buy," says Murray. "Our research shows that 9 in 10 parents own at least one multistage product, and 74 percent of these parents buy multiuse gear to save money."

The most popular multistage product: car seats intended to carry children from infancy through elementary school years. BabyCenter's research found that 59 percent of parents either have or plan to get an all-in-one car seat, which holds infants and toddlers safely and converts to a booster seat for older children.

Following close behind car seats in multistage and multiuse popularity are convertible cribs, play yards, convertible strollers, travel systems, highchairs, and baby carriers.

Winners and finalists may display the BabyCenter Moms' Picks seal in their marketing, on packaging, and on social media. Parents shopping for gear can look for the seal and know these products have come out on top in the toughest test of all: real life.
