Meggitt Training Systems to Emphasize New Live-Fire Products and Turnkey Capabilities at NRA Range Conference

Meggitt Training Systems builds on its long history of shooting range development at this spring's NRA Range Development & Operations Conference (RDOC) in Tampa, Fla., March 24-26. The semi-annual conference is geared toward prospective and current range owners, with Meggitt highlighting new products, as well as nearly a century of gun range design, equipment and installation knowledge.

"Meggitt Training Systems has fielded over 13,000 gun ranges worldwide during the last 90 years and is the leader in range design, equipment, installation and support," said Jonathan Read, Meggitt's director of live-fire systems. "Plus, we continue to invest in new technology and will be discussing at the spring NRA event how our latest products can be integrated into current and future facilities."

New products for the NRA RDOC event include:

  • The XWT ProImage projected target system revolutionizes image and video targets for indoor shooting ranges. The system is a compact video projector and camera that attaches to Meggitt's XWT target carrier. Wirelessly connected to a 10" lane control unit mounted behind the firing line, the XWT ProImage projects user-uploaded digital videos and images onto white paper or cardboard targets. The onboard camera provides a constant close-up view of the target for instantaneous feedback. The XWT ProImage docks and charges with the XWT and includes easily replaceable batteries for nonstop run time.
  • The XWT GEN4 wireless target carrier builds on the industry's first wireless, 360ยบ turning system. The XWT GEN4 uses a lithium ion battery with a positive locking connection and ergonomic placement. This technology provides a 50% increase in battery watt hours. The new docking system improves contact design for faster, more reliable charging; that means more time using the XWT GEN4 and less time charging it. Programmable distraction lighting now integrates red, blue and white LEDs with four times the brightness of previous models. The chassis features a new side cover design for wheel overhead protection and prevention of brass drivetrain damage. Anti-static wheels eliminate grounding tinel and reduce electrostatic discharge.
  • The Live-Fire Screen allows users to train within a shooting range using live ammunition while scenarios are displayed on the screen through the FATS® 100LE system, directly integrated with the same software and courseware used for Meggitt's laser-based weapons. Optical measurement of the bullet in flight determines hit positioning, which means a much shorter guard time (the minimum required by the system to discriminate two successive shots) compared to other available live-fire screens. Meggitt's easy-to-install, self-healing natural rubber screen can be used with various types of weapons and is designed to withstand up to 50,000 rounds over the entire surface area before replacement or repair.

Planning a shooting range facility is a major undertaking and must be done early to avoid problems later. Meggitt representatives provide comprehensive information on equipment, planning and design recommendations and drawings beneficial to the successful development of a shooting range. Meggitt staff also addresses range safety, bullet traps, target carriers and retrieval systems, shooting lane control and dividers, indoor range ventilation, lead hazards and a variety of customer support services.

In addition, Meggitt offers the Indoor Range Design Guide, a comprehensive, instructional guide for first-time range owners or those renovating an existing range. The guide may be downloaded by visiting http://meggitttrainingsystems.com/Indoor-Range-Design-Guide.
