The pop-up exhibition is set to open to the public on March 2 and will run through March 5 in Downtown L.A.'s flourishing Arts District. Dropbox (News - Alert) and Genius enlisted these visual artists and curators based on their unique ability to combine art and music into an immersive live experience reinforcing the power of creative energy.

"Creative energy comes in many forms, and can be unleashed in powerful ways unique to each individuals' talent and focus," said Carolyn Feinstein, Chief Marketing Officer at Dropbox. "The roster of visual artists and curators at Lyrics to Life represents what's possible when people are empowered to create without limits."

As previously announced, the entire Lyrics to Life exhibition will be designed using Dropbox Paper, a collaborative workspace that helps teams create and share early ideas, with Genius following each artist's creative process, from planning and curation. A short-form documentary about the making of Lyrics to Life from planning to curation, co-presented by Dropbox and Genius, will premiere on both Dropbox and Genius's video platforms shortly after the exhibition's March opening. The live exhibition will parallel the new Dropbox brand system, which was launched to inspire people to do truly extraordinary things.

Unleashing Creative Energy with Acclaimed Visual Artists and Curators

Leading the esteemed line-up of visual artists and curators is recording artist, rapper and filmmaker Aminé, whose commercial debut single, "Caroline," peaked at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and garnered over 200 million views on YouTube (News - Alert), and whose debut studio album, Good for You, was released last year to critical acclaim. Genius shares a rich history with Aminé, and has featured the multihyphenate in its hit video series VERIFIED and FRAMEWORK. For this exhibition, Aminé is slated to bring to life memorable lyrics from his catalog.

Among the other visionaries taking iconic lyrics off the page and into real life are the celebrated visual artists Devin Troy Strother and Magnus Sodamin; installation artists Peggy Noland and Mokibaby; sculptor, conceptual filmmaker, and photographer Marina Fini; sculptor and multidisciplinary artist Typoe; and lighting collective Nitemind.

In collaboration with these visual artists and curators, Lyrics to Life will feature original artwork and installations that span artistic mediums, formats, and musical genres, illuminating the deeper meanings and interpretations inherent within beloved songs from the worlds of pop, hip-hop, indie rock, and R&B. The live exhibition is powered by Dropbox and its mission to unleash the world's creative energy as well as Genius's movement of passionate music fans pouring over songs they love.

Artist Peggy Noland, who will be exhibiting new mixed-media installation sculptures inspired by notable Nicki Minaj lyrics, said: "My pieces have fit most comfortably around and on musicians, so getting to create a space that specifically combines the two is a dream come true. I immediately knew I wanted to bring a Nicki Minaj lyric to life. The best part of any song is when Nicki Minaj comes in, and I hope my work communicates the same power and confidence that Nicki embodies."

Nitemind, the lighting collective whose mesmeric visual experiences of motion, light, and color have featured prominently in musicians' live performances, will be presenting a lighting installation inspired by lyrics from Sia's classic "Chandelier."

"From Aminé whose genius shines through his songs and music videos to Nitemind who do spectacular lighting design for Kelela and Dawn Richard, we're excited to collaborate with visual artists and curators who share a deeply personal relationship with music," said Max Kotelchuck, Head of Experiential at Genius. "We can't wait to see how they channel some of the most memorable lyrics of all time through their art."
