Iron Mountain and Chenega Applied Solutions Awarded Contract by the Federal Bureau of Prisons

RESTON, Va., Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE:IRM), the global leader in storage and information management services, announced today that it will be teaming with Chenega Applied Solutions LLC, an Alaska Native Small Business specializing in records management, information technology, facilities management, training, and intelligence solutions, to provide the Federal Bureau of Prisons with off-site records management storage and services. The contract is for five years, including one base year and four option years.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons is a law enforcement agency within the Department of Justice, responsible for the administration of the Federal Prison System, which encompasses approximately 190,000 inmates across 122 facilities. This responsibility entails keeping custody of records of those inmates that include personnel, medical, and parole information.

Leveraging a combination of Chenega Applied Solutions' in-house records management staffing and program management expertise, and Iron Mountain off-site records management storage and services, it is estimated that the Bureau can reduce operational costs by 20 percent over current levels, while significantly increasing overall quality of service.

"Chenega Applied Solutions is proud to partner with Iron Mountain to provide the Federal Bureau of Prisons records services and storage support," said Michael Davis, President of Chenega Applied Solutions. "By utilizing a strong partnership with the Bureau, the Chenega and Iron Mountain team will provide superior and consistent records management processes and ensure the agency's information is in compliance with all National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and federal disaster recovery/continuity-of-operations regulations."

Under the scope of work, Iron Mountain will provide the Federal Bureau of Prisons with:

  • Off-site Records Management
  • Secure Transportation Services
  • Digitization Services
  • Shred Services
  • Special Projects

"Iron Mountain Government Solutions allows for the consolidation of disparate legacy storage facilities into a compliant storage model, enabling the expedient retrieval of records, and increasing chain of custody security controls," said Michael J. Lewis, vice president and general manager of Iron Mountain Government Services. "As a result, the Bureau will be able to dramatically decrease its operating costs, while moving to a more modern and efficient storage environment."
