The Standard Charitable Foundation Announces Three Grants Totaling $85,000 to Oregon Nonprofits

The Standard Charitable Foundation, Standard Insurance Company's charitable foundation, today announced three grants totaling $85,000 to nonprofits in Portland, Oregon. The recipients are: Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation and Health Center, Community Vision and Portland State University.

"We are proud to announce this support for three nonprofits which help people with disabilities live and thrive independently, increase access to health care and educate and inspire the business leaders of tomorrow," said Greg Ness, president of The Standard Charitable Foundation and chairman, president and CEO of The Standard. "These organizations are doing critical work to strengthen our communities and we're honored to be a part of it."

Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation and Health Center: $25,000 was awarded for the construction and build-out of a new Beaverton Wellness Center to meet the urgent need for increased access to affordable health care. The new Wellness Center will expand clinic space from 12,000 to 36,000 square feet and include five additional medical providers.

Community Vision: $10,000 was awarded to construct the Seven Corners Community Collaborative, a four-story office building located at 1949 SE Division in Portland. When completed in 2018, the building will serve as the new headquarters for Community Vision, a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live independently in their homes, as well as four additional nonprofits that provide services for individuals with disabilities.

Portland State Universit Foundation: $50,000 was awarded to renovate and expand the Portland State University School of Business Administration. The new school, which opened in October 2017, includes 21 classrooms, 10 team study rooms, 11 conference rooms, enhanced space for student services, and space for the centers in real estate, sustainability, retail and innovation, and entrepreneurship.
