"Cloud mature organizations want the best of both worlds. They want the economics of a private cloud with the agility and flexibility of a public cloud, said Joyent's CEO Scott Hammod. "Scott will help us expand our ability to deliver both cost savings and greater agility to our customers by helping us grow our global footprint of Triton Private Regions."

King comes to Joyent after spending five years at VMware, most recently as Senior Director of Global Data Center Strategy and Operations, during which time he united five different global regions into one cohesive business unit and set the overall data center strategy for VMware. At VMware he was also responsible for building out the worldwide Cloud Operations organization for vCloud Air. Prior to VMware, King spent more than 20 years managing data centers for industry leading managed hosting, dedicated hosting and colocation companies.

"Joyent has a stellar reputation in cloud infrastructure, and its launch of Triton Private Regions more than piqued my interest," said King. "It's an honor to join a team of such talented and customer-centric professionals as we accelerate growth and scale our capabilities globally."
