National Heritage Academies Public Charter School System to Provide the STEMscopes Digital STEM Curriculum in Schools Around the Country

National Heritage Academies, a public charter school system of 83 schools across nine states, has selected STEMscopes NGSS as the science curriculum for its students in grades 6-8. Developed by Accelerate Learning, STEMscopes NGSS provides digital resources, supplemental print materials, and hands-on exploration kits that build student engagement and excitement for learning.

"We have schools in nine different states, which means nine different sets of standards. We need a tool that is well aligned to each state and easy for our teachers to use," said Leslie Stiles, Manager, Curriculum and Instruction for Science and Social Studies. "The digital aspect of STEMscopes gives us the flexibility we need, and teachers have found it to be very user friendly. After just a brief training, they were comfortable with the program and are using it as a resource to support their instruction."

Built from the ground up to meet state and Next Generaton Science Standards, STEMscopes NGSS fosters student understanding through inquiry-based, hands-on scientific investigations, engineering challenges, content connection videos, claim-evidence-reasoning assessments, and more.

"Our goal is to ensure that our scholars have extensive opportunities to be critical thinkers who are prepared to meet the demands of high school, college, and careers," said Stiles. "Because STEMscopes units are developed around the 5E model of instruction, teachers can create learning experiences that help students develop a deep understanding and appreciation of science."
