ILUMNO and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Signed Agreement to Offer State-of-the-Art Content in Latin America

ILUMNO, a knowledge-based, tech-enabled company that supports the transformation of higher education institutions in Latin America, announces the signing of an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT (News - Alert)), ranked the best university in the world by the QS World University Ranking over the last five years.

This agreement will make it possible for students and alumni from the 16 prestigious ILUMNO universities to take MIT courses that have been tailored to meet the modern needs of the labor market.

Courses will be offered on a 100% virtual platform using state-of-the-art technologies offered by ILUMNO, and with the support of MIT teaching assistants, in both Portuguese and Spanish.

During this first stage of the agreement, two courses will be released: IoT (Internet of Things), and Big Data. These courses will be available by November 2017, and they will be aimed at students who want to complement their studies with specific knowledge and stand out in the labor market. In 2018, the plan is to launch courses on AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Business Applications. Both institutions have the goal to continue expanding the agreement portfolio and to offer additional courses highly relevant for the labor market.

Under this concept, the programs stem from the belief that by 2020, there will be 50 billion devices connected to Internet. According to MIT experts, the great challenge will be to capialize this evolution in hardware, software and data as a disruptive opportunity for the future of companies.

Additionally, the Big Data course will aim at arming the students with unique and new opportunities on how data can make a difference in the future of any organization.

Both programs will be offered to all ILUMNO member institutions in Latin America.

"It is an honor for ILUMNO to sign this innovative agreement with MIT, which is, according to many international rankings: the best higher education institution in the world. This alliance will allow us to keep materializing our vision of expanding access to quality higher education in the region," said Pete Pizarro (News - Alert), ILUMNO's CEO and President.

"We are excited to work with ILUMNO to offer high-quality education to students across Latin America," said Professor Daniela Rus, director of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Andrew (1956) and Erna Viterbi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. "MIT has a rich history in online education and we look forward to continuing to innovate in this space with collaborators like ILUMNO."

The goal is to work jointly and globally to offer more tools and knowledge to more students.
