PCI Provides Integrated Platform for Portland General Electric Company's Participation in Western Energy Imbalance Market

Power Costs, Inc. (PCI (News - Alert)) announced today that Portland General Electric (PGE) is using PCI's enterprise software platform to help the utility operate within the western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM). As of October 1st, PGE became the fifth western utility and the fourth PCI client to begin full participation in the EIM.

PGE is leveraging PCI's software solution for several of its critical functions in the new market, including bid formulation, market communication, outage management, GHG tracking, analytics, and settlements. Additionally, PGE is utilizing PCI software for its non-market activities associated with PEAK outage coordination and NERC (News - Alert)-GADS reporting.

"EIM participation represents a significant milestone for us; selecting the right enterprise software platform, diligent planning and execution by our staff and close collaboration with vendors to meet our needs were the critical success factors as we learned from the experience of PCI and the other utilities that joined before us," said Maria Pope, president and incoming CO of PGE.

The PCI platform for EIM participants comes out-of-the-box with all the required data interfaces, embedded analytics, business process automation, and reporting capabilities that offer unparalleled 'end-to-end' support for various business functions. It allows clients to streamline operations through both forward-looking optimization strategies and post-analysis.

"We are proud to have PGE as our premier enterprise customer and attribute the perfect go-live to the meticulous work between our teams," said Jason Hebert, PCI's Vice President. "Given extensive experience with multiple successful go-lives and post go-lives since the early stages of EIM, we look forward to our continuing collaboration and providing value-added support to the PGE team and all our EIM clients for many years to come."
