Turn-Key Health (TKH), a population health management (PHM) company serving payers and their members with advanced illness, announces Ian Duncan, FSA, FIA, FCIA, FCA, MAAA, adjunct associate professor, Statistics & Applied Probability, University of California Santa Barbara, Matthew Harker, MBA, MPH, associate director, Health Policy Hub, Duke Clinical Research Institute, and Terri Maxwell, Ph.D., APRN, chief clinical officer, Turn-Key Health, will present "Understanding End-of-Life Issues for Actuaries" during the SOA Annual Meeting & Exhibit, Oct. 18, 2017, 8:30-9:45 a.m., Hynes Convention Center, Boston.

"Patients spending their last days away from loved ones are often connected to machines or undergoing therapies of low value that can be misaligned with patient/family preferences," says Dr. Maxwell. Attendees will learn about new models that focus on individuals with adanced illness and offer a process-driven approach to population health management (PHM). Discussions will include the role of predictive analytics to proactively identify patients, the value of a uniform approach to delivering community-based palliative care, and new payment models to support these initiatives.

To help payers better understand end-of-life care challenges, Turn-Key Health has released the first installment of its three-part white paper, "Effectively Addressing the Impact of Advanced Illnesses." Download part one, "Recalibrating Population Health Management to Include Community-Based Palliative Care."
