Code42 and 451 Research Webinar to Discuss Mitigating Inside Threat

Code42, the leader in cloud-based IP protection, recovery, and visibility today announced that Rick Orloff, chief security officer at Code42, and Fernando Montenegro, senior analyst at 451 Research (News - Alert), will be presenting a webinar on mitigating inside threat. The webinar, "Inside Threat: The Evolving Nature of Attack Patterns," is taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 12 p.m. CDT (News - Alert), and will discuss the burgeoning concept of inside threat, explain how to identify the "malicious actors" without wrongfully implicating employees, and share the proactive steps businesses can take to quickly recover from any data breach incident.

Insider threat refers to an employee or contracor who misuses his or her authorized network access to carry out nefarious activity. Sophisticated hackers are compromising user credentials and moving silently within an organization's digital infrastructure under the guise of an employee profile - an inside threat. Security teams must prepare to recover from both. The 2017 Verizon (News - Alert) Data Breach Investigation Report found that 75 percent of all breaches are perpetrated by outsiders. More of these outsiders are using clever social engineering attacks - phishing, spear phishing, etc. - to successfully compromise legitimate "insider" credentials.

Code42 and 451 Research will go in depth on emerging best practices, from how to maintain visibility of all users' endpoint activities, to how new analytics tools can help recognize abnormal and/or high-risk activity, to how to quickly determine if the threat is coming from an insider or simply inside.
