National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC) Hires Daniel Pierson as Business Development Consultant

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC) announced today that they have hired Mr. Daniel Pierson, Deputy, PEO Land Systems (retired), United States Marine Corps as a consultant to perform business development in the manned ground vehicle system technologies space.

Before retiring in July of 2015 to start his own consulting company, Mr. Pierson had over 33-years' experience as an acquisition professional with systems engineering, modeling & simulation, software engineering, instrumentation systems, training systems, and program management.

In his roles as Deputy, PEO Land Systems, Mr. Pierson initiated and led the effort to establish the Joint Center for Ground Vehicles (JCGV) between the Army and Marine Corps. This represented the first time ever, management of the entire joint ground vehicle fleet at the enterprise level. The JCGV was officially started in August of 2010 and is responsible for the establishment of the Defense Mobility Enterprise, which is the NAMC and the Government collaborating under a Section 815 Other Transaction Agreement.

"Mr. Pierson was an easy choice for us, given his history in helping createour enterprise," said Tony Melita, Executive Director of the NAMC, "Dan has always been a supporter of this type of collaboration between Government and Industry/Academia and evangelized its benefits to the warfighter throughout his time with the Government."

Mr. Pierson was selected as part of a competitive request for proposal (RFP) process that realized six candidates for the position. A subcommittee of NAMC's Board of Directors performed as the selection committee, interviewing all six candidates and choosing Mr. Pierson to enter into a consulting agreement with the consortium which was executed earlier this month.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to continue supporting a community I care a great deal about," said Mr. Pierson, "I believe in giving Program Managers all the tools possible to be successful and the Consortium OTA model is a great way of solving complex problems and reducing risk in programs through prototyping."

The NAMC, a non-profit 501c3 corporation, was formed in July 2014 and operates under a section 815 Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) with the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.  The OTA covers the entire range of ground systems technologies for manned and unmanned vehicle and robotics systems. The NAMC, through the OTA, is available to be utilized by each of the services and is administered on the Government side by the Vehicle and Robotics Program Office (VRA PO) in Warren, MI.
