Allina Health Metro Hospitals among State's Best Says U.S. News & World ReportAbbott Northwestern Hospital retained the first place ranking for Best Hospital in the Twin (News - Alert) Cities and second in Minnesota in the U.S. News & World Report 2017-18 rankings released today. Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, and United Hospital, St. Paul, were each selected as a Best Regional Hospital. Abbott Northwestern received national rankings in six specialty areas: Cardiology and Heart Surgery (#27); Diabetes & Endocrinology (#11); Geriatrics (#37); Gynecology (#25), Neurology and Neurosurgery (#42); and Orthopedics (#19). Mercy ranked third in the metro and fifth in the state and was selected as a Best Regional Hospital due to its number of high-performing ratings, procedures and conditions. Mercy's high-performing specialties are gastroenterology and GI surgery and pulmonology. United ranked fifth in the metro and eighth in the state and also earned Best Regional Hospital distinction. United's high-performing specialties are diabetes and endocrinology. In addition to national specialty rankings, Abbott Northwestern earned high-performing ratings for gastroenterology and GI surgery, nephrology, plmonology and urology.
