First Ever Thermal Tablet Cover Keeps Tablets Safe and Operational in Freezing Environments

STEVENS POINT, Wis., Aug. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Gamber-Johnson today announced thermal tablet covers featuring revolutionary technology that keeps a tablet warm in cross dock and freezing environments. For warehouses and distribution centers that store and move frozen foods or utility companies that use bucket trucks in wet or freezing temperatures, the thermal cover will keep their tablet warm and dry in the harshest environments.

Tablets have a minimum operating temperature. When they are used in an environment colder than the minimum they can get sluggish, lose touch screen capabilities, or shut off completely. The Gamber-Johnson thermal cover encases a tablet and has a thermal pad heater connected to a thermostat that begins regulating heat around the cover if the outside ambient temperature is below 40°F (4.4°C). The cover ensures the tablet will always stay warm and be at its optimum operating temperature, even in freezing environments.

In addition, the cover is water, dust, and UV resistant, so tablets are protected as they go from a freezer into a wet or a dry dusty environment. A clear protective screen keeps the tablet displays visible so they can be interacted with using a finger or stylus. Velcro closures on the cover mean it's easy to open, access, or remove the tablet if it needs maintenance or recharging.

"With the new thermal protective covers, we've developed a product specially designed to le tablets work in environments they typically haven't been used in before," says Brian Demski, product manager for Gamber-Johnson. "Now cold storage facilities and other companies that use computers in a cold environment have another option to consider when they have new technology initiatives."

The thermal covers come in two sizes, 8" (20.3 cm) and 10" (25.4 cm), which fit most rugged tablets including Zebra, Panasonic, and Getac. The Velcro closure on the bottom easily wraps around cords and works great for tablets using a keyboard.

In addition, Gamber-Johnson has a complete line of tablet docking stations and systems to mount computers, radios, and other electronics in forklifts, cars, vans, trucks, and other fleet vehicles. Both sizes of the thermal protective cover are available for purchase from Gamber-Johnson resellers beginning today.
