Amadou Yattassaye Named President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri


Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced today that Amadou Yattassaye has been named president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. He will assume his new position Aug. 21, 2017.

"Amadou brings a strong skill set along with a proven track record of success to this position," said Pam Kehaly, president of Anthem's West Region. "As we look to work collaboratively to transform the health care system, our members, clients, providers and business partners in Missouri will greatly benefit from Amadou's extensive experience and passion."

Yattassaye joined Anthem in 2011 as vice president, Audit/Ethics, serving as Anthem's chief compliance officer. In 2013, he assumed the role of vice president and chief operating officer of Empire BlueCross BlueShield, where he oversaw several aspects of the local business and operations for New York including the state's Individual business. Prior to joining Anthem, Yattassaye was a senior manager at Ernst & Young for seven years where he had profit and loss responsibility, management oversight, customer interface and management, along with marketin and business development.

A native of Mali, West Africa, Yattassaye is a 1998 graduate of Indiana State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He received a Master's of Business Administration in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2002.


Steve Martenet, the former leader of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri, was recently named president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio. Martenet assumed the role in April 2017, but retained the title of president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. He will formally hand off that role to Yattassaye effective Aug. 21, 2017.
